Rocka (Vocals/Guitar/Piano) was born in the Island of Trinidad and Tobago, origins of Steel Pan and Calypso music. Calypso is a huge part of Rocka's culture and is symbolized by an instrument called the Steel Pan just like the Guitar symbolizes music in the US and certain parts of the world. Each year Trinidad and Tobago has an event call Carnival, similar to Woodstock or the Grammys, that Trinibagonian's look forward to with great anticipation.
He moved to the US to pursue several musical projects but was hit with the reality of life in America, while comforts of home such as rice and peas, bake n shark, stew chicken with macaroni pie, roti, sugar cane and drinks like fresh coconut water and carib beer were nowhere to be found in his part of town.
Hungry and thirsty he emerged with a style he likes to call RockaLypso a fusion of his past and current life influences therefore winning awards in competitions like DC Idol (Washington DC), Talent Rock (Florida), appeared on ShowTime at the Apollo (New York) and Fox 5 News.
Categorized as pop or top 40 this new style called RockaLypso was born through a series of original songs he has written based on his varied musical influences over the years. Rocka states Life is meaningless without music.
